The main access road to Shoreline apartments was flooded during rush hour.
Traffic came to a standstill and developer Nakheel issued a text message to residents notifying them of the leak.

Cars could be seen driving slowly through the water, as traffic stretched back on to the mainland.
“We are working with relevant authorities to resave the matter as soon as possible,” the message said.
“Residents are advised to temporarily use the Shoreline exit. Please drive safely. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
By 7.30pm, traffic had begun to ease.
